Break Out of the Mold: Creating a Breakout Program in your Library

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.
With the growing popularity of escape and breakout rooms, libraries can leverage these games and bring people into the library by letting them breakout of it! Not only are breakouts fun, they also promote collaboration and team-building, develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, enhance communication skills, and more. This presentation will look at all aspects of creating your own breakout program, from building a breakout kit, creating and implementing breakout games, marketing and promoting your program, and connecting with the growing community of Breakout EDU, an open source effort to bring the popularity of breakout and escape rooms into education. At the end, team up with other attendees and test your skills with a mini-breakout game! While this presentation will look at breakout programs through the lens of a school library, they can easily be adapted for use in any library programs or in staff training.
